The wine school is GO!

Yesterday, as Susie was being feted by Michelin-starred chefs on Saturday Kitchen for some great wine choices, the Winchester Wine School officially opened for business as we held our first ever wine course.
This was a very special occasion for us – something we’d been looking forward to for a long time.
In the event, I led the course (Susie having prior obligations on the day), though generally we’ll be looking to host these kind of events together in future.
I’ve asked one of the participants to write us up a brief report, to provide a slightly less partial viewpoint than my own (and to impart a feel for what it’s like to be an audience member at a Winchester Wine School course).
But I’m delighted to report in the interim that the wines tasted brilliantly on the day, we had a fantastic bunch of people, and most importantly the event was great fun.
The sun was streaming through the ornate windows of the Winchester Guildhall as we tasted, in very civilised and laid-back manner, through wines including a delicious champagne, Chilean Sauvignon Blanc, Burgundian Chardonnay, Kiwi Pinot Noir, Rioja, South African Syrah and a final mystery wine…
We had lots of fun with jelly beans, aroma phials and a Wine Options game. I spoke to a few people afterwards and they all commented on how much they’d enjoyed it. Hopefully they all left with a spring in their step after a fun morning’s tasting (I know I did!)
