Wine Blast Wins Global Wine Communicator Award

So we won a thing!

To be specific, we won the audio category (for our Wine Blast podcast) at the 67 Pall Mall Global Wine Communicators Awards 2024.

Here’s a photo of us receiving our award:

This was quite a big deal, for us and the podcast.

These are a brand new set of awards, established by the wine members’ club 67 Pall Mall which began in London but is now increasingly global.

The awards are unashamedly focused on the media of tomorrow – from podcasts to video (long-form and short-form) and writing.

The awards ceremony in September 2024 featured a phenomenal bunch of wine talent, many of them young, fresh, highly creative voices engaging with the wine lovers of today but also tomorrow.

It was a real honour and thrill to be shortlisted alongside all these fabulous people. Please do check out their brilliant work, there are links on the 67 Pall Mall Global Wine Communicators Awards page.

In the pic above we’re joined by fellow winners Nick Ryan, Amanda Barnes, Henna Bakshi and AndrĂ© Mack.

We submitted two podcast episodes for the judges – one on light strike and the other on orange wine.

We’d like to thank every single person who has supported on this slightly wild, unexpected and thrilling ride.

Most especially – thanks to our listeners, who keep us going, keep us motivated, and keep us podcasting.

It’s a ton of work but WE LOVE IT.

And the best part is when people tell us how much they love the pod. So thank you.

Thanks also to our brilliant guests, our sponsors, the whole Wine Blast community – we couldn’t do this without you.

(Oh, and by the way, podcasting is THE WAY FORWARD for wine! Just saying…)

Thank you also to 67 Pall Mall and Richard Hemming MW for making these awards happen and thereby supporting and motivating wine communicators the world over. People had flown in for this ceremony from Canada, USA, Argentina, Australia…

The narrative around wine is so important, as chair of judges Elaine Chukan Brown said so eloquently in her speech at the ceremony. Wine has plenty of headwinds it needs to challenge right now, from climate change to neo-temperance, so supporting this vibrant global community is vital.

Huge thanks also to judges Isis Daniel, Olly Smith, Max Allen, Natatlie Wang and Konstantin Baum MW.

If you have time on your hands, the video below shows the whole ceremony, including speeches by Richard Hemming MW (41:05), Grant Ashton (46:25) and Elaine Chukan Brown (48:37).

Our big moment comes at 54:43. And yes, we really did all have lots of fun with those plastic clappers…
