Food & wine fun – join us!
Let us count the ways…
We’ll start with some beautifully seasonal local Hampshire food in a multi-award-winning, atmospheric timber-framed restaurant – complete with delicious wine to wallow in.
We’ll also throw in a Master of Wine, one free copy of The Wine Opus (RRP £50), a whole host of wine matching tips, some white powders (all legal we promise) and a mystery fizz into the bargain…
Tempting? We hope so!
On Saturday 13th November, we’re running our very special food-and-wine matching lunch at top Winchester eatery The Chesil Rectory (one of our local favourites, with a brilliantly eclectic wine list and top cooking by Damian Brown).
We’ll be taking our guests through a journey into the senses in a delightful private dining room. The menu – subject to last-minute alterations – is the following mouth-watering line-up:
- Salmon and cod rillette, country toast, tomato jam
- Breast of Blackmoor Estate pheasant, bread sauce, root vegetable chips and roasting pan juices
- Barber’s cheddar, biscuits, spiced pear chutney
- Apple jelly, blackberries, Calvados chantilly
- Coffee/tea and petits fours
As well as the wines involved in the warm-up and the mystery fizz, a different wine will be matched to each of the four courses, to include some classic pairings (Pinot Noir with the pheasant; tawny port with cheese). But we’ll also be sure to throw in some more unexpected, hopefully inspiring combinations.
We’ll also be giving away a free copy of The Wine Opus (RRP £50) to one lucky guest. This newly released, lavishly illustrated, 800-page tome is described as ‘the most ambitious illustrated wine reference in 20 years’ and features Peter on South America.
The festivities kick off at 11.30am and places cost £100 – or £90 to subscribers to our School News bulletin.
To book, please email us by clicking here. Alternatively, give us a call during office hours on 01962 864717 or book via the website (go to ‘The Wine School’ via the top menu and select ‘Book now’ from the right-hand menu).
Spaces are limited but we hope we have tempted you to come along. We’d love to see you there!
