Chile feast
(by peter)
As these things go, it was quite a statement.
For Decanter magazine – traditionally the heartland of classical wine interests, Bordeaux being paramount – to dedicate its first ever region-specific edition to South America, which it did last month, is indicative of the interest and momentum that this continent’s wines are generating.
I wrote three features and covered a Chilean Pinot Noir tasting for the October edition, which also featured pieces by Patricio Tapia, Steven Spurrier and Anthony Rose. You can read my pieces in pdf format by clicking on the links below:
- Old Dogs, New Tricks – How Chile’s historic wineries are re-inventing themselves and learning from their glorious past
- Parra & Antonini – An interview with two rising stars on the global wine scene
- Destination Chile – Where to stay for wine lovers visiting this stunning, slender nation
- Chilean Pinot Noir tasting report – some great value wines recommended
My thanks to Decanter/IPC Media for permission to reproduce these articles here. In Decanter‘s November edition (out now), Susie recommends some really exciting sparkling wines for under £25, with a view to stocking up before Christmas without breaking the bank.
And if you’re interested in more on Chilean wine, my Chile Wine Brief is in its final stages and will be ready to go on sale on the site within a fortnight.
