City of drinking sires

One of the rarer sights in nature is that of five wine experts striding purposefully, in more or less a straight line, towards a goal that is neither a bar nor a free bottle of Petrus.

Which is why this video must constitute something of a first:

Today, a bright, crisp Oxford was witness to a unique and wine-soaked collaboration as all five of Saturday Kitchen’s wine experts (us two plus Olly Smith, Susy Atkins and Tim Atkin) converged in bibulous fashion to mark the 200^th show of Saturday Kitchen’s modern incarnation.

We can’t say too much prior to the show going out on BBC1 at the usual time of 10am this Saturday (27^th November).

But we can reveal that the show is already looking pretty tasty – with Chris Evans as special celebrity guest, starring alongside chefs Daniel Galmiche and Vivek Singh.

And of course we can promise some wine bits with a difference.

In the meantime, here’s a sneak preview of glasses being raised:
