Profile: Casa Marin

(by peter)

Casa Marin is a pioneering, extreme Chilean wine producer in many regards.

It’s run by the indefatigable Mariluz Marin and specialises in intense, elegant wines from prime coastal territory – primarily  Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir but also now Syrah, Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Sauvignon Gris, among others.

I’ve long been a fan of the wines and recently wrote a profile of them in the June edition of Decanter magazine, which you can read by clicking on the following link (by kind permission of Decanter/IPC Media): Peter Richards MW Casa Marin profile in Decanter June 2012

The article comes illustrated with some excellent photographs by English-born, Chilean-based Matt Wilson (married to Lapostolle winemaker Andrea Leon).

I was chuffed to find an excuse to use a bit of Vicente Huidobro’s poetry in the article, which will work as a serviceable sign-off here:

Now and then

Ripe hours

Drop on life.
