Us on Titchmarsh
(by peter & susie)
We’ve just been sent a YouTube link to our appearance on the Alan Titchmarsh Show (ITV1, back in September 2011) so we thought we’d share it here.
We were invited on to discuss award-winning wines and the state of wine retailing on the British high street. Alan’s studio guest was Ann Widdecombe. We chose the wines from a list of last year’s award winners.
But, as so often with these shows, that all got lost and instead it turned into something of a Widdecombe-athon while the Strictly Come Dancing theme got somewhat out of hand… (Quite a notion – watch the clip to see what we mean.)
After we did the show we wrote a piece to give a bit of background to what we never got to discuss – ie our take on supermarket wines and how to navigate their wine offerings (and promotions) to both save you money and help you drink better. You can find this piece by clicking here. (There’s also a bit on life beyond supermarkets too, just to balance things up.)
For all of this, doing the show was all very enjoyable and it was great to see Alan and Ann really appreciating the Roaring Meg Pinot Noir and the Tesco Finest Dessert Semillon.
And of course it’s always nice to touch on Moroccan brothels and pavlova when it comes to wine appreciation…
