We’re on Radio Solent

(by peter & susie)

The delightful BBC Radio Solent presenter Katie Martin popped round to interview us today.

We’ve both been on Katie’s show before so it was great to see her again and have a good natter.

We talked about becoming the youngest married Masters of Wine (Susie insisted on mentioning that we’re the only MW couple – of which there are three – in which the woman passed first).

We also discussed what we’re up to with our wine school now that our first year anniversary is fast approaching (what a year it’s been!)

Seeing as Katie’s a bit of a foodie, we also discussed the new food-and-wine competition we’re launching this year, called What Food, What Wine?

It’s all about finding the best wines to go with 10 classic British dishes, from fish and chips to apple crumble via chicken tikka massala.

We’re assembling a crack team – which to date includes world’s best sommelier Gerard Basset MS MW, food-and-wine expert Fiona Beckett, Master Sommelier Ronan Sayburn (most recently seen on Michel Roux’s Service on BBC2) and other top names from the world of food and wine.

You can see the competition’s brand new website here. Needless to say, we’re very excited about this project and will be making a good deal of noise about it, both on this site and elsewhere. So keep your eyes peeled!

In the meantime, Katie’s interview with us goes out on Thurs 10th February 2011 at around 14.15, on 96.1FM and 103.8FM, DAB and online via the BBC website.

And if you missed it on Thursday, you can catch it for a limited period via BBC iplayer here. (It plays at around an hour and a quarter into the show.)
