The first duty of wine – whatever its colour – is to be refreshing. Gastronomic. Uplifting, if you like. Here’s a red that does just that – and at a very fair, albeit not bargain basement price.

Classic elegant Pinot scents of tangy red fruits and warm soil after the rain. It’s juicy, nippy and refreshing, very decent for the level and one to sit alongside uncomplicated food like a plate of cold cuts or chicken and ham pie. (Peter, 6.5/10, February 2016)
