This Monteleccio is a fabulous value wine from one of Montalcino’s most celebrated wine estates, Sesti. We visited not too long ago and were captivated by the stunning scenery and these scented, rugged reds that capture the beauty of this high Tuscan landscape.

I tried this at a tasting by their importers, Armit, and at a fraction of the price it held its own against the estate’s stunning Brunello 2008. It has a beautiful scent, with notes of dried cherries and black tea. The firm yet rounded tannic profile and elegant dried fruit flavours work brilliantly with charcuterie. (7.5/10, Peter, Sept 2016)
