In February 2024 I gave a masterclass at Barcelona Wine Week.

It was a great experience – excellent event, interested people, great city. And of course delicious wines!

My talk was on: The Future of Spanish Wine, A Perspective from the UK market.

My main message was that Spanish wine has never been this exciting, and while there are many headwinds currently in wine, and the UK market is immensely competitive, Spain has many aces up its sleeve.

Nothing is more Spanish than sherry and what’s really exciting in this region at the moment is forward-thinking producers going back to the vineyards to address and express terroir – and also the emergence of table (ie non-fortified) wines.

I featured one of these in my talk – this Cota 45 Ube el Reventón. It really is delicious – salty, nutty, tangy, food-friendly and delicious.
