Wow. This quirky, appetizing white is quite something.

One thing’s for sure: it won’t be like any other Chardonnay you’ve tasted.

Maybe it’s not for everyone. But if you like your whites nutty, flavoursome, tangy, appley – a brilliant match for hard cheeses like comté – then this will keep you very happy.

It’s great value at £8.99. It does have some Fino sherry-like characteristics (yeasty, bruised apple, bready) but that’s typical of this style and region. And it works really well.

The wine forms part of Lidl’s French Wine Cellar which goes on sale from 28th September 2017. As it’s not part of their permanent range, once it’s gone it’s gone.
