Exquisite Collection Organic Malbec 2019
Exquisite Collection Organic Argentinian Malbec 2019, 13.5%
(£6.99, Aldi)
This juicy, fresh, easy-going red will give a lot of drinking pleasure.
It’s worlds away from the body-builder reds that have fallen out of fashion in Argentina lately. This is upbeat, friendly stuff that also happens to be organic. The label’s more presentable than most from Aldi and it’s pretty good value too.

Another wine that stood out at the recent Aldi spring/summer 2020 tasting was the Forza Della Natura Unfiltered Catarratto 2019.
The front label proudly says ‘non filtrato’ and the back label talks of the wines ‘naturally hazy appearance.’
It tastes…like a very hygienic take on natural wine. It’s not really that hazy. It does have a funky aroma and succulent flavour profile, though, so it does a decent enough job. And it’s pretty light, but what do you expect at £5.49?!
As for what a supermarket like Aldi stocking a ‘natural’ wine means for the wider movement, only time will tell…
